Chemical Peels- Chemical Peel Treatments
Chemical peels are usually recommended for people that don't suffer from severe acne scars. With this procedure the damaged skin is removed helping the dermis to renew. This method is recommended for people that don't suffer from severe acne scars and deep wrinkles. Nonetheless, severe wrinkles and deep acne scars will not be improved.
Alpha hydroxyl facial peels:
Organic carbolic acids are what make up alpha hydroxy acids (AHA). This is the mildest of the peel formulas and produces light peels for treatment of fine wrinkles, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. The amount of acid used in the treatment differs between specialists. Only physicians are able to provide a high dose of alpha hydroxy acid. Through this method the patients can achieve almost the same outcome as with microdermabrasion. There are some risks involved in this procedure such as red pigmentation and dryness. At home chemical peels can be found with low concentration of alpha hydroxyl acid.
Trichloroacetic acid facial peels:
Another acid called Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) can be an alternative to skin abrasion. This type of chemical peel helps reduce deeper wrinkles, acne scars and precancerous skin lesions. This method is more invasive thus it involves more risks. Patients will need up to one week to recover from the severe burned like skin on the face.
Phenol facial peels:
One of the most intense chemical peels is called a Phenol Peel. People that suffer red skin, deep wrinkles and problems due to sun burn can get good result through this method. Normally it takes no more than one hour to finish the procedure. One of the effects of phenol peels is the loss of pigmentation, therefore it may not be appropriate for patients with dark skin.
These types of procedures are good in many ways. Patients find that many of their fines lines are removed. Chemical peels are also a great treatment for acne scar removal. The skin is much softer and healthy after undergoing an over the counter chemical peel.
There are however some limitations to chemical peels. Through procedures such as chemical peels, laser resurfacing or dermabrasion people can achieve excellent results however pitted acne scars and pores are only improved not completely erased. Patients may look for other methods since the cost of chemical peels is quite high. Compare to others treatments chemical peels prices are not affordable for everyone.
